Mr. Bryan will be playing a key role on our Forensic Investigations team, serving as litigation consultant and expert witness for our clients, and directing work on our Litigation and Trial Support products.  He brings 24 years of combined legal and IT experience to this position, having served for six years as a Colorado district court judge and magistrate, eight more years as an Assistant Attorney General, a private lawyer, and a judicial clerk, and ten years as a software developer prior to his legal career. An honors graduate of the University of Colorado Law School, Mr. Bryan also holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Science. His past work as a software engineer for AT&T Bell Laboratories, among others, included project and team management and operating system development in support of data storage subsystems for mainframe and supercomputer products, software development for telecommunications switching systems, and electronic health records system development. Mr. Bryan’s extensive, first-hand knowledge of the litigation process and of the interplay between legal and technological issues will be invaluable in assisting clients in conducting forensic investigations and effectively managing ESI, digital evidence, and technology in all phases of civil and criminal litigation and trials.

Alex Holden serves as Cyopsis’s Director of Enterprise Security / Senior Intelligence Investigator.  He assists Cyopsis clients with IT security, investigative, and forensics issues, ranging from penetration testing and critical incident response to full-scale security solutions.  Mr. Holden is a nationally-recognized expert in designing, maintaining, and auditing information security solutions.  He has over 15 years’ experience in computer security and networking, including development of several award-winning security systems and enterprises.  Mr. Holden designs, implements, and maintains company-wide, end-to-end security solutions, working with all areas of a company to assess security risks, design policies to comply with SEC/FINRA, PCI, SOX, and HIPAA regulations, identify and fix security issues, and successfully lead the enterprise to pass internal and external IT security audits.


Prior to joining Cyopsis, Mr. Holden worked for 10 years as Chief Information Security Officer for a large brokerage firm.  He also has extensive experience in Windows, Unix, and network administration and corporate governance.  He has conducted over 160 security audits of companies in the financial, medical, retail, manufacturing, and other fields.  These audits yielded an exceptional 100% success rate in penetration testing from data access to full system control and prevented ongoing and potential losses estimated at $8 billion USD.  During his career, Mr. Holden has evaluated over 600 commercial software solutions and identified and reported to vendors over 1,250 vulnerabilities.  He holds a number of IT certifications, including as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).  Mr. Holden is a frequent speaker on IT security issues, teaches IT and business security education programs, and consults extensively with vendors, open-source projects, and major media on cybersecurity and cybercrime.

Robert Byrnes serves as Senior Forensic Investigator for Cyopsis.  In this capacity, he assists Cyopsis clients with all manner of IT forensic, investigative, and e-discovery matters both inside and out of the litigation context.  Mr. Byrnes is adept at acquiring and preserving digital media in both the laboratory and on-site settings, preserving evidence and maintaining media chains of custody, performing data recovery, and analyzing data.  A few of the many analysis Mr. Byrnes has performed at Cyopsis include searches for evidence of:

  • Financial fraud, theft of trade secrets, child pornography, malicious intrusion, ITAR violations, homicide, violations of corporate     policies on electronic media from CD’s, USB devices, desktops, laptops, cell phones, server platforms, websites, and hosted email sites.
  • Reformatting or spoliation of evidence , including dates and utilities used.
  • Improper removal, duplication, destruction, or transmission of email messages or files.

Prior to joining Cyopsis, Mr. Byrnes served as a litigation technology support analyst at a large law firm, where he worked closely with attorneys and paralegals on designing and implementing technical case management solutions and provided training on core applications.  Mr. Byrnes has extensive experience in bringing technology to bear in a variety of legal settings.  Mr. Byrnes holds a number of IT certifications including the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiner's Certified Computer Examiner (CCE) as well as a paralegal certificate and a B.A. degree in Psychology.

 

RICHARD TILLERY    Technical Advisor of Forensic Services

Mr. Tillery advises our Forensic Investigations team as needed in our Litigation and Trial Support products. Cyopsis will also utilize his extensive experience to assist our IT Security and Critical Incident Response team. Mr Tillery also implements and maintains company-wide, end-to-end security solutions, working with all areas of a company to assess security risks, design policies to comply with PCI, SOX, and HIPAA regulations, identify and fix security issues.  He has been formerly trained as a Digital Forensic Examiner (EnCase) and currently holds certifications as a:

  • Certified Digital Media Collector (CDMC)
  • Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI)
  • Payment Card Industry Qualified Security Assessor (PCI QSA)
  • Certified Information Assurance Security Officer (IASO)
  • NSA IAM (Information Assurance Methodology)
  • NSA IEM (Information Evaluation Methodology)
  • TrustCheck (Proprietary Security Assessment Methodology)
Prior to joining Cyopsis, Mr. Tillery gained more than 15 years of experience in both the commercial and government sectors dealing with Civil and Criminal Investigations, Forensic Imaging and Analysis, Critical Incident Response and Cyber Forensic Analysis, Corporate Investigations and Compliance Auditing, Cyber Counterintelligence and Counterterrorism, Network Design and Monitoring, and Security Program Development. Mr. Tillery joins us from British Telecom, where he was a Security Project Manager and Senior Security Forensic Consultant for over 6 years.  Mr. Tillery also is currently serving in the U.S. Army Reserves and has been active duty in the U.S. Airforce.
