Cyopsis works with organizations, counsel, and other stakeholders in conducting internal investigations to combat fraud, waste, and misuse of company assets and other violations of law, policy, and corporate ethics. Our multi-disciplinary teams draw on decades of investigative experience in both the public and private sectors.
Cyopsis investigators capitalize on knowledge and networks amassed from years working in federal investigative agencies, state and federal prosecutors’ offices, national and regional law firms, domestic and foreign military intelligence organizations, national news organizations, and IT security divisions within Fortune 500 companies.
We apply the diverse skills and experiences of our investigators in identifying, gathering, and synthesizing relevant facts from electronic and human sources to provide our customers with actionable intelligence to address the following problems:
• Accounting abuse • Embezzlement • Breach of loyalty (kick-backs, pay-to-play, usurping corporate opportunities) • Undisclosed compensation • Intellectual property theft • Non-compete violations • Non-disclosure agreement breaches • Corporate espionage/counterintelligence • Public corruption (FCPA violations, local graft) • Abusive workers' compensation claims • Discrimination and harassment claims • Product liability claims • Personal injury claims • Computer misuse (unauthorized use, content, or charges) • CFAA (Computer Fraud and Abuse Act) violations (data destruction, denial of service, or sabotage) • Electronic forgeries • Data breaches (loss, theft, or malicious intrusion) We tailor investigations to serve our clients' needs. Because we utilize both IT and human investigators in one seamless operation, Cyopsis unites lines of inquiry in cyberspace and on the ground. In this way, we are able to reconcile electronic and human intelligence to establish actual “ground truth.” The depth and breadth of Cyopsis's capabilities mean that we can provide clients with more timely, accurate, comprehensive, and cost-effective intelligence. Throughout our investigations, we preserve evidentiary chain of custody and foundation in order to ensure an actionable and admissible end product for our customers.
Cyopsis utilizes proprietary technology and methodologies to extract data from anywhere electronic information is stored. Regardless of native format, high volumes of data, or originating source, we are able to execute targeted searches, sort relevant from irrelevant data, de-duplicate data sets, post relevant data sets to secure, searchable online databases, and prepare electronic or paper output as required by the client. Our system captures audit trail, metadata, and trace log files in order to reconstruct all the details of the data collection and production process, including the persons involved, actions taken, and locations affected. This tracking yields a clear evidentiary record on which clients can take necessary action. We can recover and analyze data that subjects or targets of our investigation have attempted to destroy, delete, or impair. Our scope of recovery extends beyond the traditional realm of civil or criminal discovery in state and federal litigation. We can, of course, analyze all electronically stored information available to us through our clients or from adversaries through traditional discovery. Using Cyopsis’s unique set of tools, we can recover data that adversaries have sought to deny to our customers, for example information posted or located across the spectrum of the public internet such as newsgroups, chat channels, message groups, and remote data stores. |
